What is Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride ?
Properties:Yellow crystalline powder, orderless and bitter;There is moisture ;It is easy to destory and fail in alkali solution when the light color gradually fades.Soluble in water ,slightly soluble in ethanol ,insoluble in ether.Indication antibiotics.This product is a broaspectrum bacteriostatic agent .Many rickettsia, mycoplasam,chlamydia, spirochetes, amoeba and some plasmodium parasites are also sensitive to this product, Enterococcus is resistant to it .Others, such as actinomycetes, anthrax, listeria mononucleosis, clostridium bacillus ,nucaria, vibrio, brucella, campyobacter,yersinia, etc,are sensitive to this product.

Function:
Oxytetracycline hydrochloride is a broad spectrum of antibiotics, its antibacterial spectrum,antibacterial principle and application and tetracycline is basically the same. Many Rickettsia,Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Spirochetes, Amoeba and some Plasmodium are also sensitive to this product. Enterococcus is resistant to it.

Function:
Oxytetracycline hydrochloride can be used as a drug for the following diseases:
(1) Rickettsia disease, including epidemic typhus, endemic typhus, rocky mountain fever,tsutsugamushi disease and Q fever.
(2) Mycoplasma infection.
(3) Chlamydia infection, including parrot fever, sexually transmitted diseases, lymphoid
edema, nonspecific urethritis, salpingitis, cervicitis and trachoma.

(6) Cholera.
(7) Rabbit fever.
(8) Plague.
(9) chancre. Treatment of brucellosis and plague when combined with aminoglycosides.
Application:
Oxytetracycline is frequently used to treat bacterial infections caused by the sexually transmitted disease known as chlamydia. It may also be used to treat dental infections, Lyme disease, or pneumonia. In some cases, a doctor may order a blood culture to make sure that the particular bacteria causing the infection is not resistant to drugs such as oxytetracycline.
Oxytetracycline (terramycin) is a linear, tetracyclic broad spectrum antibiotic originally isolated from Streptomyces rimosus in 1949. Like all tetracyclines, oxytetracycline shows broad spectrum antibacterial and antiprotozoan activity and acts by binding to the 30S and 50S ribosomal sub-units, blocking protein synthesis. Oxytetracycline, although less coloured than other tetracyclines, is still a pigment and is thus sensitive to environmental and storage conditions. Commercial oxytetracycline may contain significant levels of degradation products.
