Carbopol 940,also called Carbomer or Carboxypoly-methylene is a generic name for synthetic high molecular weight polymers of acr ylic acid used as thickening, dispersing, suspending and emulsifying agents in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. They may be homopolymers of ac rylic acid, crosslinked with an al lyl ether penta erythritol, al lyl ether of sucrose or all yl ether of propylen. Carbomers are found in the market as white and fluffy powders. They have the ability to absorb, retain water and swell to many times their original volume. Carbomers codes (910, 934, 940, 941 and 934P) are an indication of molecular weight and the specific components of the polymer .

Carbomer resin in pharmaceutical production, mainly used as thickener, suspension, adhesive, controlled sustained release preparation of the skeleton material, carbomer resin as a new pharmaceutical excipients can be used in liquid preparations, semi-solid preparations and solid preparations.

Application:
1. Used as scale inhibition and dispersant in industrial water treatment. Good compatibility. It can also be used for pretreatment of drinking water. It is used to separate red mud in the preparation of alumina. In the chlorine-alkali factory used for refining salt water is mostly used in the manufacture of cosmetics, as ointment can promote the absorption of griseofyellow mold, but also can be used for drug control release. Used to prepare finishing agent for leather and some high-grade goods, Preparation of acrylic resin paint used to fix chrome salt, aid tanning, reduce chromium pollution and so on to improve the processing performance of PVC used as corrosion and scale inhibitor, water quality stabilizer, quenching agent, thickening agent used as leather coating filler, textile slurry and water quality stabilizer used to manufacture acrylic resin paint can be used as film forming agent and adhesive in leather coating agent, It is also used to make polyacrylic resin latex paint, which is widely used in the decoration of face leather, garment leather, Chemicalbook glove leather and other light leather. It can enhance the bending resistance, extensibility, light resistance, aging resistance, cold resistance and heat resistance of the leather. It is the main modification film of grain leather with pigment paste.
2. It can be used as an excellent suspension agent, emulsifier, transparent substrate for advanced cosmetics and pharmaceutical excipients. It is also the most effective water-soluble thickening agent.
3. It is a commonly used dispersant, which can disperse the microcrystals or sediment of calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate and other salts in water without precipitation, so as to achieve the purpose of scale inhibition. Besides being used as scale inhibition and dispersant in circulating cooling water system, it is also widely used in papermaking, textile, printing and dyeing, ceramics, coatings and other industries.
4. Used in chemical, chemical fertilizer, printing and dyeing, power generation and other water treatment.
