Levofloxacin (Levofloxacin) is the levofloxacin isomer, water soluble is 8 times more than ofloxacin, easier to make injection, less toxic side effects, was first marketed in Japan in 1994, belongs to the third generation of quinolone antibacterial drugs. The antibacterial effect is mainly exerted by the inhibition of DNA replication, transcription, repair and recombination of the topoisomerase and DNA rotation enzyme (Topoisomerase). Levofloxacin was twice as active as Levofloxacin against most clinical isolates. Because of its good activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae, it is also called &ldquo. Respiratory quinolones ” And had stronger antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa than the former.
It has been widely used in clinic because of its advantages of broad antibacterial spectrum, strong antibacterial action and no need to do skin sensitive test. However, long-term clinical practice has shown that Levofloxacin can cause a wide range of adverse reactions (ADRs). In the 2016 Annual Report on Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring, anti-infective drugs ranked first, and Levofloxacin ranked first among anti-infective drugs. Therefore, its clinical use is also limited.

Function
Levofloxacin has strong antibacterial activity against most Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Shigella, Salmonella and Haemophilus influenzae, Legionella pneumophila, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and other G-bacteria. It also has antibacterial effect on G+ bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydia pneumoniae, but it has poor effect on anaerobic bacteria and enterococcus. Levofloxacin, moxifloxacin and Jimifloxacin enhance their effects on G+ bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus pyogenes, and pathogenic microorganisms of community-acquired respiratory tract infection such as mycoplasma pneumoniae, chlamydia pneumoniae and Legionella pneumophila, so they are also known as "respiratory quinolones".
Application
Levofloxacin is mainly used for mild and moderate infection caused by sensitive bacteria. The dosage is 250mg to 500mg each time, once a day. Its corresponding indications are very broad, including but not limited to: community-acquired pneumonia;
Bacterial sinusitis; Acute bronchitis; Complex and uncomplicated skin tissue or skin structural infection; Chronic bacterial prostatitis; Complex urinary tract infection
