There are two main functions of l-arabinose in food and medicine. First, it can inhibit the enzyme that hydrolyzes disaccharide,
thus inhibiting the rise in blood glucose caused by the intake of sucrose (which is broken down into glucose and fructose under
the action of small intestine sucrase).It is referred to as the hypoglycemic effect of inhibiting disaccharide hydrolysis.2 it is
because of L - Arab sugar of disaccharides hydrolysis enzyme inhibition, decompose in the small intestine is not of cane sugar in
the large intestine microbes to produce large amounts of organic acid, the organic acid has inhibitory effect to liver fat, plus L
- Arab sugar in the small intestine to absorb sugar inhibitory effect, thereby reducing the generation of new fat in the body.
L-arabinose can be used with sucrose or eaten alone.Adding 3.5% of sucrose can inhibit the absorption of 60-70% of sucrose.
Long-term use can reduce blood glucose.L-arabinose alone has the same effect.
