L-Isoleucine is not only present in the structure of almost all proteins, it is also one of the twenty common amino acids. Its chemical composition is exactly the same as leucine, but its arrangement is slightly different, resulting in different properties. Isoleucine is a hydrophobic essential amino acid. Isoleucine has two palm centers, so there are four stereoisomers and two diastereomers of L-isoleucine. There is only one type of isoleucine that occurs naturally, L-isoleucine.
