Cepharanthine is a bisegmylisovailine alkaloid isolated from Cephaleuca capitana and Diphaleuca diphaleuca. It has the effects of anti-tumor, anti-malaria, bacteriostasis and immune regulation. Modern studies suggest that it also has the function of stimulating reticuloendothelial system, activating hematopoietic tissue and promoting the proliferation of bone marrow tissue. It has been clinically used in the prevention and treatment of leukopenia caused by radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other reasons in cancer patients, and has received certain effects. Therefore, Cephaletin is considered to be a low-toxicity and effective leukocytotropic drug. Cephalotin can partially reverse the multidrug resistance of leukemia cells, and the effect is obviously better than the classical reversal drug verapamil, and the cytotoxic effect is much less than verapamil at reverse dose. Function
Cepharanthine has potential antitumor effect. Cephaletin alone can play an antitumor role by inhibiting the proliferation of tumor cells and enhancing the body's immunity. What is more promising is that Cephaletin combined with chemotherapy drugs can improve the efficacy of chemotherapy by reducing the resistance of cells. The main mechanism may be that Cephaletin increases the accumulation of anticancer drugs in cells by interfering with the function of plasma membrane. In addition, Cephaletin can also improve the sensitivity of tumor cells to radiotherapy. The direct antitumor effect of Cephaletin: Cephaletin can enhance the body's anti-tumor ability by enhancing the body's immune response. Macrophages can specifically recognize and kill tumor cells and play a crucial role in anti-tumor immunity. However, in tumor-developing individuals, macrophages are often inhibited.
