High quality Tannic Acid
Tannic acid, also known as tannic acid, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C76H52O46. It is a yellow or brownish yellow powder, and its aqueous solution turns blue black when it meets an iron salt solution. The addition of sodium sulfite can delay the color change. In industry, tannic acid is widely used in tanning leather and manufacturing blue ink. Tannic acid can coagulate proteins. People chemically treat pig and cow hides with tannic acid, which can coagulate the soluble proteins in the hides. So, the raw leather that would have smelled and rotted in a few days turned into beautiful, clean, flexible, and durable leather. This tanning process is called leather tanning.
Tannic acid is a specific form of tannin, a type of polyp-henol. Its weak acidity (pKa around 6) is due to the numerous p-henol groups in the structure. The chemical formula for commercial tannic acid is often given as C76H52O46, which corresponds with decagalloyl glucose, but in fact it is a mixture of polygalloyl glucoses or polygalloyl quinic acid esters with the number of galloyl moieties per molecule ranging from 2 up to 12 depending on the plant source used to extract the tannic acid.
Usage and dosage: For external use, apply locally, 2-3 times a day.
In the skincare industry, tannic acid is often used in acne removing skincare products, fully utilizing the astringent effect of tannic acid to achieve the goal of tightening the skin and removing acne.
