Luteolin has anti cancer, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, spasmolytic, anti allergic, and immune enhancing effects. The natural extract of luteolin has been used in clinical cough relieving, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, and has good therapeutic effects.
Anti inflammation --- It is believed that the anti-inflammatory activity of luteolin is related to the inhibition of the production of other inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor.
Anti allergy --- luteolin can inhibit the production of allergic neurotransmitters by human mast cell mediated by immunoglobulin E, which may be related to the inhibition of Ca2+influx and the activation of protein kinase C translocation.
Anti inflammatory demyelinating disease --- luteolin strongly inhibits the phagocytosis of macrophages on myelin sheath in vitro, significantly reducing the production of reactive oxygen species in cells.
Anti fibrosis --- Luteolin can reduce the degree of liver fibrosis and the expression of hydroxyproline in liver tissue. It can also improve the histopathology changes of pulmonary fibrosis caused by bleomycin and reduce the lung weight index.
High uric acid resistance --- Luteolin, as a natural flavonoid, has the characteristics of inhibiting the activity of xanthine oxidase, thus inhibiting the formation of uric acid.
Anti fertility and hormonal effects --- Luteolin has significant dose-dependent anti implantation activity. After oral administration, it can significantly increase the weight, diameter, thickness of the endometrium, and height of its epithelial cells.
