It was first developed in 1967 and successfully certified in late 1969 under the name Gentamicin, which refers to the celebration of the Ninth Congress and the greatness of the working class. Gentamicin (gentamycin) is an alkaline compound extracted from the fermentation medium of monospore of Actinomycetes. It is a commonly used aminoglycoside antibiotic. Gentamicin is often used in combination with penicillin to prevent and control streptococcal infection in veterinary clinic. Gentamicin is used in combination with cephalosporin to prevent and treat the diseases caused by pneumobacter, and carbobenzicillin can treat the infection of pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc. Because these beta-lactam antibiotics break down the bacteria's cell wall, they encourage the bacteria's membrane to consume gentamicin more quickly, making it easier for the drug to reach the membrane, thus enhancing the treatment's effectiveness.

Function of Gentamicin
Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside drug that acts on the ribosomes of bacteria, inhibits protein synthesis and damages the integrity of bacterial cell membranes. This drug can first be passively diffused through the outer membrane porin, and then enter the cell through the membrane through the transport system, and irreversibly bind to the 30s subunit of the isolated ribosome, resulting in the destruction of the A site, and then: (1) Prevent proper A-site localization of aminoyl tRNA, especially methionyl tRNA binding, thus interfering with functional ribosome assembly and inhibiting 70s initiation complex formation. (2) Inducing tRNA to mismatch the mRNA code triplet, causing the 30s subunit of the intact ribosome to misread the genetic code, resulting in incorrect amino acid insertion into the protein structure, leading to abnormal, nonfunctional protein synthesis. (3) Block the binding of terminating factors to the A-site, prevent the release of synthesized peptide chains, and prevent 70s complete ribosome dissociation. (4) Hindering the depolymerization and assembly of polyribosomes, resulting in ribosome depletion in bacteria.
Application of Gentamicin
Gentamicin has antibacterial effects on gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Aerobacillus, Klebsiella, Proteus mirabilis, some indole-positive Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, some Neisseria, some actinochrome serra and Shigella. Among gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus (including β-lactamase producing strains) was sensitive to this product. Streptococcus (including streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus faecalis, etc.) were resistant to this product. Anaerobic bacteria (Bacteroides), Mycobacterium tuberculosis, rickettsia, fungi and viruses are also resistant to this product. In recent years, due to the wide application of this product, drug-resistant strains gradually increased, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella, Serratia bacillus and indordopositive Proteus this product resistance rate is very high. Gentamicin is mainly used for systemic or local infections caused by gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Shigella dysentery, Bacillus Klebsiella, Proteus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (not effective against central infections).
