Loperamide hydrochloride has a similar chemical structure to denofractionate and has no effect on the central nervous system at therapeutic doses. The effect on intestinal smooth muscle is similar to opioids, which can inhibit the contraction of intestinal smooth muscle and inhibit intestinal peristalsis. By prolonging the residence time of food in the small intestine, this product can promote the absorption of water, electrolytes and glucose, and has a significant inhibitory effect on intestinal oversecretion caused by enterotoxins, but does not affect the secretion of gastric acid at therapeutic doses.

Adults take 4mg orally for the first time, and then take 2mg every time they have diarrhea until diarrhea stops or the dosage reaches 16~20mg per day, for 5 consecutive days, if it is ineffective, stop taking it. Children take 2mg for the first time, and then take 2mg every time for diarrhea until diarrhea stops, and the maximum dosage is 8~12mg per day. Taking the drug on an empty stomach or 30 minutes before meals can improve the efficacy. After chronic diarrhea is effective, 4~8mg (adults) is given daily for long-term maintenance.
