Luteolin is a naturally occurring molecule known as bioflavonoid, often found in foods including parsley, artichoke leaves, celery, peppers, olive oil, rosemary, lemons, peppermint, sage, thyme, and many others. Luteolin is thought to play an important role in the human body as an antioxidant, a free radical scavenger, an agent in the prevention of inflammation, a promoter of carbohydrate metabolism, and an immune system modulator.

Luteolin is often found in leaves, rinds, barks. Natural sources  include peanut shell , celery, broccoli, green pepper, parsley, thyme, dandelion, chamomile,  carrots, olive oil, peppermint, rosemary, and oreganno. According to the standards of China Institute for the control of pharmaceutical and biological products, luteolin products sold in  the market at present are relatively good products if the content detected by HPLC external standard method is greater than  93%. extraction process :

1. Preparation of medicinal herbs: Medicinal herbs rich in luteolin are washed, dried, and crushed into coarse powder for later use.

2. Extraction and purification: The medicinal powder is added with organic solvents such as ethanol, etc., and refluxed for extraction. The extract is concentrated under reduced pressure and then extracted with solvents. The macroporous adsorption resin with weak polarity in the aqueous phase is washed with water until the effluent is colorless. After washing with 95% ethanol as the eluent, the pure product of luteolin is obtained after vacuum drying and recrystallization.
