Clary Sage oil is an essential oil extracted from dried sage leaves by steam distillation. Clary sage essential oil produced from sage has anti-mildew, anti-rheumatism, anti-spasm, anti-bacterial, antiperspirant, appetizing, astringent, promotes wound scarring, purification, diuresis, menstrual flow, liver benefit, blood pressure increase, body tonic and other effects, but it cannot be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, because it can stimulate menstruation and withdraw milk, and may also cause uterine cramps.
Sage usually has purple-green leaves and blue flowers, but there are many other-looking varieties. It can generally grow to a height of about 69 cm. It is wild in Yugoslavia and is native to the Mediterranean region, where most of the essential oils are also produced.
