Eyebright is a plant of the genus Eyebright in the family of Ledanceae. The plant is upright, unbranched or branched below, covered with white pubescence. The leaves and bracts are sessile, ovate to oval, with a wedge-shaped base and several slightly blunt and sharp serrations on the edges. The veins on both sides and the leaf margin are more or less setae, without glandular hairs.
Eyebright extract is mainly used as a treatment for typical eye inflammation, including eyelid inflammation and conjunctivitis. Eyebright is often used to improve respiratory problems such as colds, coughs, and sore throats. Traditional Western herbal eye supplements, the most famous of which is eyebright. Eyebright has been used as an eye tonic in Europe since the Middle Ages. Eyebright has been prescribed by doctors in Europe as a natural eye tonic.
