The pure product is a white needle shaped crystal, while the industrial product is a light yellow to brownish yellow powder; No odor, bitter taste, slightly hygroscopic. Soluble in water and ethanol, insoluble in ether. Specific rotation[ α] 22D-14.4 (ethanol). Mainly extracted from the Umbelliferae plant Centella asiatica (L.) Urb Dry whole grass. It has a promoting effect on wound healing. Used for treating trauma, surgical trauma, burns, scars, and scleroderma.
