It has the effects of antispasmodic, anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory, and gallstone dissolving.
The modern synthetic drug taurine ursodeoxycholic acid is a conjugated bile acid formed by condensation between the amino group of taurine and the somyl group of ursodeoxycholic acid. Tauroursodeoxycholic acid capsules have been listed abroad and were approved for sale in China as imported drugs in 2007. They are mainly used in clinical treatment of gallbladder cholesterol stones, primary sclerosing cholangitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, and chronic hepatitis C, among others. Currently, there is no drug registration for taurocholic acid and its preparations in China.
Bovine ursodeoxycholic acid sodium is a natural bile acid isolated from bear bile, belonging to a chemical agent. It combines with taurine in the body and exists in bile.
