Diphenyl ether is also known as phenyl ether. Colorless oily liquid or crystals. Has a light scent of geranium. The relative density is 1.086, the melting point is 26-28°C, and the boiling point is 259°C. Insoluble in water, inorganic acid solution and alkaline solution, soluble in ethanol Chemicalbook, ether, benzene and glacial acetic acid. It is prepared by heating sodium phenate or potassium phenate with in the presence of catalyst copper powder. Its chemical property is stable, does not change color, and lasts for a long time. As an artificial fixative, it is widely used in soap essence.

Function & Application

1. Diphenyl ether is mainly used as one of the organic high-temperature heat carrier components. The mixture prepared by diphenyl ether and at a mass ratio of 73.5:26.5 is called Daosheng A. Operating temperature range: gas phase 232-399°C, liquid phase 21-399°C, working temperature not higher than 400°C. The mixture composed of diphenyl ether and methyl is called Daosheng LF, which has a low freezing point and can still be used at -30°C. It is a low-temperature, low-viscosity heat carrier. Diphenyl ether has the aroma of geranium and crabapple, as well as the notes of sweet orange and narcissus. It is called crystalline geranium oil or artificial geranium oil in the fragrance industry. Because diphenyl ether is relatively stable to alkali, it is mostly used in the preparation of soap essence, and it is also often used as a substitute for geranium oil, which is suitable for preparation of flower-scented cosmetics and deodorants. As an intermediate of organic synthesis, this product is used in perfume industry, synthetic resin and other organic synthesis production.

3. When used together with diphenylmethane, the aroma can be relatively light. It can be used in soaps, detergents, roses, bay leaves, hyacinths, xiangwei, new mow grass, sandalwood and other types of essences to give green air .
